Step 1- There are some basic facts you should know before you start feeding formula. Baby squirrels don't know when to stop taking formula.  They will always act like you never fed them.   It's up to you to know how much to give them.  Read the Feeding Schedule very carefully and don't overfeed Read  Determining Age  and make sure you have the correct age so you are giving pretty close to the correct amount per feeding.   A baby squirrel does not get the back teeth until they are around 8-10 weeks old. They nurse on the mother until about 4 months old.  This has been confirmed by autopsy on a wild 4 month old baby that died of injuries.  The stomach held nothing but mother's milk.  We learn from those that don't make it so we can give the ones that do, the best chance to be healthy and be released back into the wild.
Step 2- Now that the baby has been warm and rehydrated for 12 hours, you can gradually start to feed puppy formula.  This is done according to the chart below.  Remember, all fluids and formulas need to warmed up to a temperature that is tepid to slightly warmer   ( not too hot for yourself to drink ).

Amount puppy formula

Amount Pedialyte® or Gatorade®

How many feedings

1/4 part liquid formula

3/4 part

3 feedings

1/2 liquid formula part

1/2 part

3 feedings

3/4 liquid formula part

1/4 part

3 feedings

Step 3- Go to full strength puppy formula after the above schedule is doneThe reason for doing it this way is to slowly adjust the baby's stomach to a formula that is different than mother's milk.  This method also reduces the chance of diarrhea.
